Combine all your favorite desserts into one with this Devil’s Food Cake Sandwich Cookies recipe!

1 package
devil’s food cake mix ((15.25oz))
1⁄2 teaspoon
baking powder
2 teaspoon
vanilla extract
1⁄2 cup
dark chocolate chunks


1⁄2 package
Solo Marshmallow Creme 7 OZ ((3.5oz))
1⁄2 cup
softened unsalted butter
1⁄2 cup
vegetable shortening
3⁄4 cup
confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon
vanilla extract
1⁄4 cup
cocoa powder


To make this Devil’s Food Cake Sandwich Cookies recipe...

  • Preheat oven to 375 F.
  • Put cake mix (For best results, do not use a “Just Add Water” type of cake mix) and baking powder in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Put eggs, vanilla and oil in a small mixing bowl, and whisk until blended.
  • Add to cake mix, and stir until fully blended. Do not over mix.
  • Add chocolate chunks, and stir until evenly distributed.
  • Scoop approximately 2 tablespoon portions, then roll the dough into a ball with your hands.
  • Place each dough ball on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, spacing them about two inches apart.
  • Bake for approximately 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven, then remove parchment from sheet and allow cookies to cool for approximately 5 minutes before moving them to a cooling rack to cool completely.

To make the chocolate filling...

  • Add butter, Solo Marshmallow Creme and shortening into a medium mixing bowl, then mix with an electric mixer on high for approximately 3 minutes.
  • Add confectioner’s sugar, vanilla extract and cocoa powder. Mix on low for 1 min, then on high for 2 minutes.
  • When cookies are completely cool, spread approximately 2 tablespoons of filling on the bottom of one cookie, then top with another cookie.
