Five of Our favorite Baking Blogs: ‘Share Our Strength’ Edition

Thursday, February 16, 2012 - 11:30am

As proud partners of Share our Strength, Solo Foods is committed to helping to end childhood hunger. The centerpiece of our work is as the official cake and pastry filling of the Great American Bake Sale; the nationwide bake sale that raised over $1 million in 2011.

With more than 16 million children in the USA struggling with hunger, every effort counts and the food bloggers we’re featuring today are doing their part to spread awareness.

baking blogger - whats gaby cookingWhat’s Gaby Cooking - @whatsgabycookin

Gaby is a private chef and a food photographer (which is obvious the instant you see her site’s beautiful images) that shares a wide variety of great, simple recipes on her site. Give her salted caramel chocolate brownies a try! She puts a lot of work towards organizing blogger bake sales.

baking blogger - wicked noodleThe Wicked Noodle - @thewickednoodle

Started by professional chef Kristy Bernardo, The Wicked Noodle is another site with great, easy baking recipes. Her most recent post on the ‘Best Ever Mini Cheesecakes’ look especially appetizing. Kristy chose Share Our Strength as the beneficiary of her National Sandwich Contest entry, earning the nonprofit $10,000.

baking blogger - running with tweezersRunning with Tweezers - @runwithtweezers

Professional food stylist Tami Hardeman’s Running with Tweezers is home to many great recipes that please the eye just as much as the palate. For a great example of this approach, see her recent post about Peanut Butter Pie. Tami’s Atlanta-based blogger bake sale for Share our Strength raised the most funds out of any blogger bake sale in 2011.

baking blogger - whats cooking with kidsWhat’s Cooking With Kids@whatscooking

Michelle Stern’s What’s Cooking is a site geared towards promoting healthy habits for children with a nice focus on the science behind nutritional choices. She gives classes, parties and has consulting services. She also wrote The Whole Family Cookbook, filled with recipes for the entire family to enjoy, with a focus on using locally-grown foods.

baking blogger - my kitchen addictionMy Kitchen Addiction - @jenschall

Jennifer Schall does it all! She develops recipes, cooks them, styles and photographs them for her blog, My Kitchen Addiction. Check out her great Honey Cinnamon Peach Pie. Yum! She’s hosted Share our Strength bake sales since 2009 and is active in many other causes that fight hunger.

These bloggers are definitely doing something sweet for hungry children!

Be sure to stop by our blog later this month as we do more to highlight Share our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale!
